Nodi Signs MOU with NTT DATA XAM Technologies for Partnership in the Metal Additive Manufacturing Field

Nodi LLC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on a partnership with NTT DATA XAM Technologies Inc. in the field of metal Additive Manufacturing (AM). Through this partnership, the two companies will develop DfAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing) software that leverages Nodi’s CAD kernel.

Background and Objectives

Metal AM is increasingly being adopted across a wide range of industries—including aerospace, automotive, and medical—as a manufacturing technology that enables complex geometries difficult to achieve with conventional methods, as well as internal structures that balance lightweight design with high functionality. However, to fully unlock its potential, design that accounts for the manufacturing process (DfAM) is essential, making the advancement of design tools a major challenge.

To address this challenge, Nodi will build on its own proprietary CAD kernel to develop DfAM software that meets the real-world needs of metal AM.

About NTT DATA XAM Technologies

NTT DATA XAM Technologies Inc. provides AM solutions using 3D printing under the vision of “making AM the standard in manufacturing.” The company covers the entire AM value chain—from the sales and maintenance of industrial metal and resin 3D printers, to part production and application development services, design support and design software in the DfAM domain, and contract manufacturing including post-processing. By combining its long-standing expertise in metal AM with the IT and AI technologies of the NTT DATA Group, the company is leading the industrial implementation of AM.

Looking Ahead

By combining Nodi’s design technology with NTT DATA XAM Technologies’ deep expertise and network in metal AM, the two companies will advance the development of DfAM software that is genuinely used on the manufacturing floor. Through workflow optimization that spans design, fabrication, and post-processing, we aim to make metal AM design more sophisticated and more accessible.

Nodi will continue to collaborate with partners both in Japan and abroad to open up new possibilities in AM design.
